How SteamSage works

SteamSage runs quietly in your browser. Here's what happens when you visit a Steam game page.

   You visit a Steam game page

   SteamSage only activates on URLs matching store.steampowered.com/app/*. On any other page — nothing happens, no data is collected.

   The extension reads the AppID from the URL

   Every Steam game has a numeric ID in its URL (e.g. Elden Ring is 1245620). That's the only piece of information SteamSage extracts from the page.

   Our backend looks up prices across 15+ stores

   We keep a price index refreshed every ~2 hours from Steam, Eneba, Kinguin, Instant Gaming, GOG, Humble Bundle, Green Man Gaming, Fanatical, Gamivo and more.

   A panel appears above Steam's Buy button

   When a key store sells the game cheaper, SteamSage adds a compact panel just above Steam's own Buy box: the saving, the store, and the key's region — only keys that activate in your country count. When Steam is already the best deal you get one quiet line with Steam's all-time low instead, and if there's nothing useful to say, nothing appears.
