Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know before installing SteamSage.

Is SteamSage really free?
Yes, completely free. We fund development through affiliate commissions — when you buy a game through one of our recommendations, the store pays us a small commission at no extra cost to you. That's the entire business model.
Do I need to create an account?
No. SteamSage works out of the box after install. No account, no login, no email required.
What stores do you compare?
Steam, Eneba, Kinguin, Instant Gaming, GOG, Humble Bundle, Green Man Gaming, Fanatical, Gamivo, Yuplay, G2A, GamesPlanet, and more. All are established retailers with buyer protection or first-party publishers.
How fresh are the prices?
Prices refresh every ~2 hours from each store. When you view a Steam page, our extension pulls the current cached price — which is usually less than an hour old.
Are third-party Steam keys legal and safe?
Yes, from established resellers. Sites like Eneba, Kinguin, and Instant Gaming operate legally, offer buyer protection, and process refunds if a key doesn't work. We don't include shady or unverified sources.
Does the extension work on Firefox or Edge?
Coming soon. We're launching on Chrome first, then Firefox and Edge in the following weeks. Both are actively planned.
What if a game isn't in your database?
You'll see a generic search result on Eneba for the AppID. As soon as we index that game (usually within 24-48h), you'll see real store-by-store comparison.
Does the overlay block content on Steam?
The overlay is small (300x180px) and lives in the bottom-right corner of the screen. It doesn't cover product info, screenshots, or reviews. You can dismiss it with × any time.
How much can I save?
Depends on the game and current promos. AAA games often go 40-70% cheaper on third-party stores than on Steam. Indies vary from 20-50% off. Deep sales can push savings above 80%.
What data does SteamSage collect?
Only the Steam AppID from the page you're viewing (so we can look up prices) and aggregate anonymous click stats (which store users click through to). No account data, no browsing history, no IP tracking. See our privacy policy for details.
Who's behind SteamSage?
SteamSage is built by KeyPrice, the same team behind keyprice.es (Spanish game price comparator, active since 2023). We've been comparing game prices for years — this extension packages that expertise into a browser tool.
Can I request a feature?
Yes! Send suggestions to [email protected] or open an issue on our GitHub. We prioritize community requests over roadmap items.
